Document Update

As per Aadhaar (Enrolment and Update) Regulations 2016, Aadhaar number holders may, on completion of every 10 years from the date of enrolment for Aadhaar, updating their supporting documents in Aadhaar, at least once, by submitting Proof of Identity (POI) and Proof of Address (POA) documents, so as to ensure continued accuracy of their information in Aadhaar database.

The applicable charges for document update is Rs 50/- for update through Aadhaar Enrolment Centre and Rs 25/- for update through myAadhaar Portal. (This service is  free on myAadhaar portal from 15^th March 2023 till 14^th June 2023)

Resident can update documents (POI and POA) in Aadhaar either by visiting nearest Aadhaar Centre or by accessing online portal at https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/

Aadhaar is now being used to avail numerous Government services by the residents. In order to avail these services, the residents are required to submit Aadhaar with latest and updated details for ensuring accuracy of resident information in the Aadhaar database.

As per Aadhaar (Enrolment and Update) Regulations 2016, Aadhaar number holders may, on completion of every 10 years from the date of enrolment for Aadhaar, updating their supporting documents in Aadhaar, at least once, by submitting Proof of Identity (POI) and Proof of Address (POA) documents, so as to ensure continued accuracy of their information in Aadhaar database. However, any resident if so desires can avail this service. If the resident requires any changes in demographic details, the document updates service need not to be availed. The resident should follow the existing Demographic Update feature with applicable charges as per the existing provisions.

Document update feature can be accessed by residents through two (2) modes: myAadhaar (online) portal i.e. https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/
 or by visiting any nearest Aadhaar Centre. The details of Aadhaar Centers  are available on UIDAI official website https://uidai.gov.in

Document update service is not free of cost. A nominal fee of Rs 25 is to be paid for online update mode and Rs 50 is to be paid if update is done through Aadhaar Center.

As part of digital India initiative for the benefit of residents, UIDAI has decided to provide the Document Update Service, Free of Cost on Aadhaar online portal i.e. “https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/”, from 15th March to 14th June 2023.

SMS received from Aadhaar account are genuine, which inform residents to update Proof of Identity and Proof of Address documents in Aadhaar by online myAadhaar portal or by visiting nearest Aadhaar Centre.

SMS are sent to residents in different phases, in phase I SMS are being only sent to residents, where Aadhaar has been generated more than 10 years back.

You are also requested to check that your correct mobile number is seeded in Aadhaar.

As of now no timeframe is specified, however residents are advised to update Proof of Identity (POI) and Proof of Address (POA) documents in Aadhaar at the earliest.

SMS is sent only to those residents who got Aadhaar more than 10 years back, but may not have updated it as they might still be residing at the same address or there was no change in their demographic details. Such residents need to revalidate their address by uploading the supporting documents.

However, if you got Aadhaar more than 10 years back and have not updated it, you may be receiving SMS in next batch. Please update your Proof of Identity and Proof of Address documents, online through myAadhaar portal or by visiting any Aadhaar Center.

Document update can be done at any Aadhaar Centre, it is requested that you may do the same whenever you are in India.

For document update at Aadhaar Centre fees of Rs 50 is to be paid by resident.

Note: For benefit of residents UIDAI has given the Document Update Service, Free of Cost on Aadhaar online portal i.e. “myAadhaar” for three months till 14th June 2023.

a. Resident, whose mobile number is linked with Aadhaar can login in to myAadhaar portal using Aadhaar OTP to submit the document update request. (https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/)
b. A new tab ‘Document update’ is made available on the myAadhaar portal to update the documents after login.
c. Residents to ensure that the demographic details in Aadhaar and as displayed on screen should exactly match with details in the POI/POA documents to be uploaded.
